Hock Lam Street, was one of Singapore’s most famous eating spots, will have to make way for urban redevelopment. The street is a bustling narrow alley of century old shophouses and stalls. You can see laundry drying on bamboo poles. The street which is no longer exists and the tower at the end of the street is the Central Fire Station.
The Central Fire Station (Built in 1908) is the oldest existing fire station in Singapore, and is located at Hill Street in the Museum Planning Area, within the Central Area. The building currently houses the Civil Defence Heritage Gallery, the official museum of the Singapore Civil Defence Force.
