This painting depicts Circe, once she reached Poseidon realm in the deep sea. She felt “a spark of hope ignite within her soul, lighting the way forward in the darkness of despair”. The best way to describe it by referencing the extract of the book “Circe” by Madeline Milner which has been a great source of inspiration for this exhibition.

“Circe stood at the edge of the rocky shore, the salt-tinged breeze touching her hair as she gazed out across the endless expanse of the sea. The waves crashed against the rugged cliffs below, their rhythmic cadence a soothing lullaby that echoed the turmoil within her heart. With a heavy sigh, Circe raised her eyes to the horizon, where the sky kissed the sea in an infinite embrace. In that moment, she felt the weight of her solitude pressing down upon her, a burden too heavy to bear alone.

Turning away from the tumultuous sea, Circe made her way along the winding path that led to Poseidon’s domain. The journey was arduous, the terrain treacherous, but she pressed on, driven by a desperate longing for companionship in her time of need. At last, she reached the shores of Poseidon’s realm, where the waters shimmered with an otherworldly light and the air hummed with the power of the sea. With hesitant steps, Circe approached the god’s palace, its towering spires reaching towards the heavens like fingers grasping for the stars.

As she entered the opulent halls of the palace, Circe felt a sense of awe wash over her, mingled with a tinge of apprehension. Here, in the domain of Poseidon, she was but a mortal among gods, a mere whisper in the grand symphony of the universe. But as she stood before the mighty sea god himself, her fears melted away, replaced by a profound sense of peace. For in that moment, Circe knew that she was not alone—that even in the vastness of the sea, there was solace to be found in the embrace of a god.

Painting comes to me from an inner desire to self-express, to capture what goes beyond the tangible and past the obvious. My art is about everything that influences my life, a place, a person, a thought, a feeling of love, anger or exasperation, chance and light. Chance and light are important components of my paintings. Capturing the light sometimes by chance is my inspiration. The light which can be both a wave and a particle, this quantum entanglement of nanoscale particles fascinates me. The light itself is the magical component in painting, many times trying to find its way to suppress the darkest thoughts in life. I am interested in creating different emotions to the viewers. Water and liquid of any kind is our existence, without it there is no…
