Built to Last: Ong Kok Peng on 60 Years of Singapore’s Architectural Soul

In celebration of Singapore’s 60th year of nation building, Gallery 1819 proudly presents Built to Last, a solo exhibition by renowned local artist Ong Kok Peng, known for his evocative portrayal of heritage and modern architecture through mixed media and fine ink.

This exhibition showcases a powerful collection of new and archival works chronicling the architectural transformation of Singapore — from humble shophouses and community landmarks to the towering marvels of urban development. Through Ong’s lens, these structures are more than buildings; they are vessels of collective memory, resilience, and identity.

Presented as part of Art Galleries Association Singapore’s Gallery Month 2025, the exhibition invites collectors, designers, and the public to reflect on the spaces that shaped our lives and to consider the role of art in preserving our city’s evolving soul.
