Our island state is in a constant state of flux, where time flows and light dances with shadows, creating a mesmerizing sequence of images that capture the imagination. Dusk, in particular, is magical, igniting my creative spirit with its enchanting light. Using bold impasto technique, I’ve sought to preserve the fleeting beauty of light—ever-shifting and revealing the city’s true essence and its dynamic growth.
From the ornate pre-war shophouses of the early 1900s to the sleek skyscrapers that define today’s skyline, Singapore’s transformation is nothing short of remarkable. This city, where light and shadow, tradition and modernity converge, showcases a landscape that is both distinct and ever-evolving. These changes not only tell the story of Singapore’s rich past but also reflect its unwavering drive for innovation and progress.
Through my paintings, I strive to capture these shifting shadows and the vibrant energy of the city, offering a glimpse into Singapore’s unique allure as I see it.
